The competencies of our staff include international climate policy, mathematical and economic modeling, forecasting methodologies, expert evaluation, and energy industries analysis. The company has expanded rapidly in recent years and now has an international team of more than 140 employees. Point Carbon has offices in Oslo (head office), London, Kiev, and Washington D.C. Point Carbon’s Washington, DC office was established in September 2006 and will provide news and analysis coverage of the US power and natural gas markets, as well as the emerging North American greenhouse gas markets. Point Carbon is expanding operations in the United States and a position in research and advisory is available: MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES You will:
- Provide research support that will aid the commercialization and expansion of a new analytical tool
- Gather, enter, edit, proof and verify facts relating to US carbon market transactions and other key details related to carbon offset projects
- work closely with a small team (4 staff in Washington D.C, 2 in Kiev)
QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate must:
- possess an Undergraduate degree or Master’s degree in environmental finance, economics, or other biological or environmental degree where data collection, data management and finance issues are core elements
- be proficient with Windows operating systems (e.g. Excel, Word)
- have paid experience collecting data and managing datasets where high attention to detail is required
- appropriately cite and verify sources of data collected
- be committed, reliable and professional
- have excellent command of US English orally and in writing
- work independently with limited supervision or with teams
- type faster than 40 words a minute
- reach out to buyers and sellers offsets via email and telephone interview and extract information that is often not publically available
- be available to start in March 2008
